Indian Head Massage (IHM)

It is a treatment based on old Ayurvedic techniques involving work on the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. A variety of massage movements are used to relieve accumulated tension, stimulate circulation and restore joint movement. IHM is also used to aid the condition and health of the hair, particularly when combined with the use of natural organic oils.

It is used by practitioners to help reduce stress and fatigue, increase mental clarity, and relax and rejuvenate the receiver. A treatment will last between 20 minutes to one hour.

Holistic and Detox Massage

This is one of the oldest forms of relaxation treating the whole body & mind, with the promotion of health and well being.
  • Good for stress-related conditions, relaxing and balancing the body.
  • The approach to treatment takes into account a person’s whole being, not just the physical symptoms or problems but also psychology, environment, nutrition and the effects, both negative & positive, that these can have on the entire body.
  • Regular massage is very effective for general aches and pains, stiff and sore muscles, boosting the immune system, improving circulation and inducing relaxation.
  • The body detoxes by using Aromatherapy Oils and reduces water retention.
  • It stimulates the lymphatic system whilst concentrating on the most vulnerable and weak areas as well as on the cellulite thus aiding in the burning and breaking down the fatty deposits.

Deep Tissue Massage

  • It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas.
  • It feels good and it is beneficial to your health.
  • When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue.
  • Deep-tissue massage helps to: loosen muscle tissues release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly.

Reflexology

It works on the principle that every organ and system of the body has a corresponding point or zone in the feet.

Gentle pressure is applied to each pressure point on feet and ankles.

After the consultation, the client, fully clothed apart from their feet, will lie on a massage couch whilst the practitioner works on their feet. The client may experience some slight discomfort and/or the therapist may feel some blockages in the area.

Generally, most clients report that a reflexology treatment is wonderfully relaxing and soothing, and many people fall asleep. It can be used to treat a wide range of disorders including skin and respiratory conditions, migraine, PMS and menopausal and hormonal problems, chronic fatigue, stress, depression and anxiety, eczema, bronchitis, insomnia.

Reflexology brings a balance between the physical and mental state of the person.

A course of 6 sessions is recommended and necessary to be taken once a week for a better result and a healthy body and mind.

After that a monthly maintenance is advised for longer lasting effects.

Reiki

The word Reiki means ‘universal life energy’ in Japanese, where this therapy originated at the turn of the century.

It is based on the premise that illness is caused by a disruption in the body’s energy field or life force. It is a form of non-invasive energy healing and will adjust itself to create the most appropriate effect for each individual person.

Although the Reiki practitioner may ask questions about the client’s health prior to treatment, it is important to note that no diagnosis or prognosis will be offered.

The client remains fully clothed and relaxes on a massage couch. The practitioner rests the hands lightly and gently on the body or just above the body, in a sequence of positions. Although personal experiences differ, some people report feeling an intense heat from the practitioner’s hands and deep relaxation during the process.

Reiki can be used to relieve the symptoms of chronic illnesses i.e. anxiety, insomnia, back pain, arthritis as well as to improve brain functions and memory. It often produces long-term beneficial changes.

However, although most people feel peaceful and relaxed after treatment, it can stir up emotions as part of the healing process. Some people also experience a healing reaction such as a headache or flu like symptoms, but any discomfort should be short-lived. In most cases the practitioner will suggest a course of treatments for maximum benefit.
